Southeast Asian Gold Museum

The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum opened in Budapest in 2011 and the museum is the home for nearly a thousand artifacts from eleven of the states of today’s Southeast Asia. Most of of these objects are of gold and date from prehistoric times to the 20th century, illustrating the spectrum of fine arts in Southeast Asia over the past two thousand years. The exhibition presents masterpieces arching across several millennia in nine halls on two storeys.

The museum is located not far from the Heroes Square in Budapest and it is open every day from 9.00-19.00. The normal entrance fee for adults is 3100 HUF.

Just returned from a disappointing trip. At the gate it says, in English, ‘opening hours’, but in Hungarian it said ‘closed 1100 – 1700’!
