Concerts near Budapest (Metallica, Simply Red, Tina Turner and more)

Metallica in BudaőestSince 2009 started we have started to write some small articles about upcoming events and concerts in major cities not to far from Budapest. So far we are featuring cities such as Vienna, Bratislava, Prague and Munich. And since we started with this, we have realized that quite a lot of hot-shots skip Budapest on their tours. For example Tina Turner will have two concerts in Vienna and four in Munich in February, but she will not even cross the border to enter into Hungary. Metallica will also perform in Vienna and Munich, but not in Budapest. The same is the fact when it comes to Il Divo.

So far the thing these artists have in common is that they do not visit Bratislava or Prague either. But arists such as Simply Red and Eagles visit Prague as well, but not Budapest, neither Bratislava.

Well, maybe Budapest is not yet such a world city... some more years to wait before everyone comes to Hungary as well, but things are improving so we look with great expectations into the future!

Happy new year from a freezing Budapest

Weather BudapestWe wish all our readers and visitors a happy new year from a freezing cold Budapest. Around midnight as 2008 turned into 2009 it was around -10 Celsius in Budapest, and as I checked out our weatherpage this morning it showed -8 Celsius. That is quite cold, so if you are in the city, or on the way to Budapest, make sure to dress up!

I am not sure if you have set any goals for 2009, but we have a goal to become an even better Guide to Budapest, so that we can serve our visitors with more and better information about what is going on in the city, and suggestions for programs, museums and attractions to visit in the city. Yesterday we also updated our page with information about concerts happening in big cities nearby Budapest (Prague, Munich, Vienna, Bratislava), and we hope to be able to keep this updated as well.

I agree; Munich is quite far from Budapest, but if you like driving (fast), it can still be done in a day to visit the city for a concert, and then drive back afterwards (you will arrive early in the morning the next day, but it can work at least).

Have you got any wish/desire for 2009?
Feel free to share it with us by posting a comment below telling us about it!

TicketPro Hall of Fame

I just dropped by the TicketPro page yesterday and noticed their Hall of Fame page, presenting their most popular events throughout history (or the pages with information about a concert/event that has been most visited). I realized the Depeche Mode is really popular, as it is on first (2009 concert), second (2006 June concert) and third place (2006 March concert). After this the list is as follows:
Popular concerts in Budapest
4. Guns 'n' Roses, 2006. 05. 31.
5. Rolling Stones, 2007. 07. 20.
6. George Michael, 2007. 05. 23.
7. Coldplay, 2008. 09. 23.

Pink concert in Budapest, 24 March 2009

Pink BudapestPink will have a concert in Budapest 24 March 2009. The concert will be held in the Papp Laszlo Budapest Sportarena, and tickets can be ordered from Eventim.

Press Release
Brit and Grammy Award winning, multi-platinum singer P!nk today announced plans for a new tour in 2009. The tour will kick off in Belgium on 26th February finishing in the UK in early May. Just last week P!nk scored her second UK No.1 with her new single ‘So What’, taken from ‘Funhouse’, the new album. The single remains at No.1 this week as well as being No. 1 in Germany, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and the USA.

Pink had a message for her fans "I'm so excited to get back on the road. The 'Funhouse' tour ideas are running rampant in my head. Who knows what they'll come out as.... And I can't wait to see”. P!nk’s previous tour sold out arenas across the UK and Europe and established her as a major headline artist. The ‘I’m Not Dead Tour’ included 56 arena shows and a further 43 Festival dates!

The announcement of these dates coincides with the release of Pink’s fifth album ‘Funhouse’ released on October 27th, the follow-up to 2006’s ‘I’m Not Dead’, which went four times platinum in the UK, selling 1.2 million copies. Since her debut in 2000, P!nk has been widely hailed as a fearlessly talented singer/songwriter, and the Pennsylvania native’s genre-defying creative risk-taking has propelled her to global stardom. To date, P!nk has sold 22 million albums cumulatively worldwide.
