The Hungarian State Opera Until 1873 Budapest did not exist, only Buda and Pest. But, in that year they decided to make them one, and Budapest was a fact. The tourism experienced a giant boom, and hotels, coffee houses and restaurants were built in high tempo. But wouldn't the city need a magnificent opera as well? Of course they did! Miklos Ybl designed the State Opera that was finished in 1884. Many famous people have been in the opera building, one of them is Giacomo Puccini. It is said to have one of the best acoustics in Europe!
