It is finally here. The date for the Madonna concert in Budapest has been set, and it will be held on the 22nd of August 2009. The Sweet and Sticky tour is coming to Hungary, and it is no longer just a dream or a legend, but a reality. Earlier we thought the concert would be on the 6th of August in the Puskas Ferenc Stadium, but it will be as informed above on August 22, in Kincsem Park.

The tickets for the concert will start from 15.000 forints, and from there up to the sky. Tickets will be available for sale from the 20th of February. Tickets for almost every location at the Madonna tour can be bought from WorldTicketShop

Below you can read our article from January 29 telling about the rumour that Madonna was to come to Budapest.

The last days this mystical concert list has started to flow on the internet, telling about the prolonging of Madonnas Sweet & Sticky tour from 2008. It is said that Madonna on this tour want to visit places that she could not visit during her Sweet & Sticky tour in 2008, which include Budapest as well!

A list was also added to their homepage, and then removed within short time; and I have not found any official sources to confirm the dates and places, but we just thought that we would add the list, and then let us see, if it turns true. If so, the Budapest fans would at least not have to travel to Vienna like thousands of people did last year to see the Madonna concert there!

If it turns true, Madonna is supposed to enter the stage at Puskas Ferenc Stadium the 6th of August, 2009.

Update:
We contacted TicketPro to ask them about the concert today, and their reply was: “We understand your curiosity, but unfortunately we do not have any official information about the Madonna concert either.
Eventim also answered our email, and they answered: “Unfortunately we do not have any information about a Madonna concert.

The tour list is not correct. For a full and complete and correct Madonna Tour list visit World Concerts.

The annual flu is on the way

Every year some kind of flu arrives to Hungary and makes lots of people sick. Old people normally go to the doctor to receive an injection to avoid this, but the young and strong stay at home, and believe that the flu will not hit them. According to Népszabadság the amount of people visiting their family doctor the last days has increased with 1/4, and it is expected to continue to increase. The flu is to blossom from next week, so be prepared and watch out!

Airport transfer Budapest

A great thing when arriving to a new city is to have someone waiting for you! That is why we today announce our new service which helps tourists get from the airport to the city, and then continuing on a guided tour. When you have received your luggage you go out to the main room at Budapest Airport (Ferihegy 1 or 2), and there a guide will be waiting for you and escorting you out to the private car/bus. From the airport you will be brought to the place you live, and as you have checked into your room, you will go back to the guide and continue with a short guided tour in Budapest! The guide brings snacks, drinks and other nice things that will make the trip even more enjoyable.

You will not be picked up by a car like the one on the right! Do not worry! Our cars have loads of space for both you and your luggage!

Of course there are many ways to do this, so for example; it is not necessary to check in to the hotel/apartment first, but this we can find out together! We believe this is a great offer, as you do not need to worry about how to get from the airport to the city, and you get to know Budapest just after you have arrived.

Margaret Bridge to be closed this spring

Bridges in BudapestThe Liberty Bridge was opened for tram traffic not long ago, and in a few months it will be opened to car traffic as well. But, as the Liberty Bridge opens, the Margaret Bridge will be closed. Tram number 4 and 6 will still use the bridge, but it is expected to be closed for cars for 18 months.

In my oppinion the closing of the Margaret Bridge will be much heavier and harder on Budapest than when they closed the Liberty Bridge. The Margaret Bridge has loads of more traffic than the Liberty Bridge, so I am afraid that this will lead to major lines and problems in this area.

Nabucco conference in Budapest (traffic problems)

Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány will have ministers from more than 20 countries visiting Hungary today and tomorrow, and therefore big areas in the fifth district will be closed today and tomorrow, and sometime the area around the Castle and the funicular will be closed as well. Parking will not be allowed in this area either (around the Parliament, Roosevelt Ter and in this area)! Only during arrival and departure of the representatives will the main road leading to and from the airport be closed.

Nabucco conference
The goal of the Nabucco conference is to discuss the possibility to build a gaspipe from Russia which will pass through Ukraine, which has become even more important considering the gas problems experienced not long ago. They will also discuss if other nations could help transport gas to Europe, so representatives will come from Iraq, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.

Budapest news

Terminal 1 running again

Since Sunday Ferihegy terminal 1 is up and running again. There were some discussion if the Budapest Airport Zrt. wanted to open it again as long as the parts are negotiating, but now they opened it! Hopefully some seriousity will come into the situation now and therefore we will not see any more strikes at the Budapest airports in the close future! I guess that is a risky wish, at least considering how many times the workers have been striking the last year, but the hope is the last thing to die…

Budapest news

Things happen all the time in a big city with 2 million people living there. So instead of writing several different articles today, I decided to write some small news from Budapest in this post.

1) Airport strike is suspended
Two days ago a strike started at Budapest Airport, but today it was suspended. But, it might be that the workers will start striking again in the near future, but as of now it is suspended. The homepage of the airport tells that all traffic still departs from Ferihegy 2, but traffic ment to arrive and depart from Ferihegy 1 will probably return to the planned terminal within shortly.

2) The gas is coming
Yesterday we wrote that Russia opened the taps, and now the first gas has arrived to Hungary. That is great news, and the Hungarians no longer has to listen to the advice of Evgeni Kostitsyn who said: “Eat more beans to produce more gas!” Enough gas is in the nation so there is no need for that extra gas!

3) Congestion charge in Budapest from 2012
From October only newer cars will be allowed to drive within the inner borders of Budapest (between October 20 and March 8) – article can be found here. This is to avoid smog restrictions in the future. In addition the congestion charge will be introduced in Budapest from 2012 and should cost between 400-800 forints. By the time we reach 2012 it will probably be rather 800 forints, but time will show!

That was the Budapest news for today!

Strike updates from Budapest, January 20

Strike Budapest AirportYesterday we reported that a new strike has started at Budapest, Ferihegy Airport. It started yesterday at 16.00 and since then all traffic is arriving and departing from Ferihegy Airport Terminal 2. For all low-cost airlines that means that they will depart and arrive to Terminal 2, no matter what is written in their papers!

As last time the security people are striking, and though they have been trying to find a solution since the 22 December, they have not succeeded. Today at 10.00 they will sit down yet another time to discuss and negotiate, and hopefully find a solution to the problems.

We have still not received any reports about what life is like at the airport (long lines etc.), but we will write more as we get more information. Our advice to everyone is to be on the airport at least 2 hours before departure, as there for sure will be information problems and long waiting lines, at least by the security checks.
