Nuda Veritas, Gustav Klimt in Museum of Fine Arts

A new exhbition has just been opened in the Museum of Fine Arts. It is named “Nuda Veritas. Gustav Klimt and the Origins of the Vienna Secession 1895–1905.” This will for sure be an exhibition bringing many tourists to Budapest, but it will also draw people from Hungary to Budapest.  On the official homepage of the Museum of Fine Arts we can read that “the spiritual leader and first president of the Vienna Secession, Gustav Klimt, will be accorded a highlighted place in the exhibition, which will not only display his significant paintings, such as Nuda Veritas – “naked truth”, included in the title of the exhibition, but also a group of his drawings evocative of a work that has not survived but which represented an important phase of his artistic career: the three murals symbolising the faculties of the University of Vienna. ”

I guess it is only to get to the museum and check it out, at least if you are interested.

New Starbucks to open in Budapest

New Starbucks to open in Budapest
New Starbucks to open in Budapest

Some months ago Budapest was a city without Starbucks, and Hungary was a nation without Starbucks. Then the first one opened in WestEnd Citycenter, and now the second Starbucks is on the way. The new Starbucks will open in Kiraly utca 56 (if I remember correct), which is on the corner of Király Utca and the Erzsébet Körüt, meaning at the location where a KFC has been found so far. It doesn’t seem like if the KFC will close, they will just give some of their space to Starbucks fo them to be able to serve their coffee and snack bites at the same location.

Good news to people tired of standing in line at Starbucks in WestEnd!

Lots of tourists

September is a busy month in Budapest and especially on weekends the main attractions of Budapest are crowded with people. This weekend a whole lot of sights and cultural buildings can be visited for free, also buildings not open to public normally like the Sandor palace next to the castle. Picture below is taken from the Fishermens bastion!

Some Hungary pictures

We have just added some Hungary pictures to our Facebook profile, so we thought it would be nice to add some more Hungary pictures to our blog as well. The pictures beneath this text are taken in Vác and from the Bánki Lake, both found north of Budapest, and both great places to visit!

Budapest Triathlon

Yesterday the Triathlon World Championship Series 2010 started in Budapest, and it will last until this Sunday. More than 4000 people will participate in this competition, with most competetors coming from abroad from all around the globe. The triathlon will lead to major roads being closed in these coming days, especially Saturday and Sunday when the lower river roads will be closed down and also the Chain Bridge and other important roads.

Still, this competition is great commercial for Budapest, and we hope that both participants and visitors will be able to enjoy the beauties of Budapest for a day or two, even though they are here because of the competition.

For more information on the Dextro Energy Triathlon, we recommend the official homepage of the competition.
