Operetta evenings in Matyas Pince

Since the end of 2010 Mátyás Pince has introduced a new program for their Friday evenings, Operetta evenings. The program starts around 20.30 and lasts for 45-60 minutes. Both before and after the visitors can enjoy traditional Hungarian gipsy music. The songs played are not famous international songs, but traditional Hungarian operetta songs.

Direct flights from Budapest to Riga

Riga is an upcoming city among tourists from all around the world, but so far it has been quite hard for citizens of Budapest and Hungary to get to the capital of Latvia. But, from May 2011 AirBaltic will launch direct flights between Budapest and Riga four times a week. The tickets are sold from appx. 50 Euro per direction.

So, saddle up, get to Ferihegy Airport and travel to Latvia in 2011! This is good news 🙂

Fernando Botero exhibition in Museum of Fine Arts extended

The Fernando Botero exhibition in the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest was supposed to close down yesterday, but it has been extended for one more month. So, if you have not visited the museum for this cool exhibition yet, you have been given a mercy month to do so.

Palinka and Sausage Festival 2011

The annual Palinka and Sausage Festival in Budapest is a very popular event bringing lots of Hungarian and tourists to the Castle area of Budapest to drink Palinka and to eat delicious Hungarian sausage. The dates for the International Winefestival in Budapest in 2011 has been launched. If you like wine, champagne and would like to be there on the terrace in front of the Castle, then you better visit Budapest between September 7 and 11 in 2011.

Roxette Budapest 2011

The popular band Roxette from Sweden will come to rock in Budapest on the first day of June in 2011. If you would like to see the stars as they sing and perform, this is a great chance to do so! The venue for the concert is Budapest Sportarena, so if you want to go by metro, get of at the stop named “Stadionok”.

Last chance to see Klimt and Botero in Museum of Fine Arts

Fernando Botero in Museum of Fine Arts

Since early autumn 2010 there have been two very popular exhibitions in the Museum of Fine Arts located at the Heroes Square in Budapest. The first exhibition, “Nuda Veritas. Gustav Klimt and the Origins of the Vienna Secession 1895–1905“, has been available since September 23rd, and the last day of the exhibition will is January 9th, 2011.

The other exhibition named Fernando Botero’s paintings opened September 30th, and the last day of the exhibition in the Museum of Fine Arts is January 23rd. So, if these exhibtions sounds interesting, you better hurry up and visit the Museum of Fine Arts before the paintings are transported to their next exhibition venue.

Sziget Festival 2011

In 2010 the dates for the Sziget Festival were August 11-16, and in 2011 they will remain almost the same. The official dates are August 10-15, and then there will for sure be some kind of events added August 9th, and maybe even August 8th.
