The National Gallery in Budapest is hosting a temporary exhibition titled Dolce Vita. Impressions of Italy in Two Centuries of Hungarian Art. Part of the Bartók Spring International Art Weeks, this collection showcases around 150 works by 75 artists, including paintings, prints, photographs, sculptures, objects, and archaeological artefacts. The display spans from the nineteenth century to contemporary art, illustrating how Italy has remained an eternal theme and a popular destination for Hungarian travellers and creators alike.

For centuries, individuals have made pilgrimages to Italy, drawn by its sunlight, coastal aromas, wine, and coffee, alongside historic relics of antiquity and exemplary Renaissance and Baroque architecture. This collective Italian experience has served as a constant source of inspiration. For historical figures like János Vaszary, Italy represented a landscape of color, light, movement, and life. While nineteenth-century artists like Antal Ligeti and Károly Markó the Elder studied the Old Masters and captured mythical landscapes, twentieth-century artists like Vilmos Aba-Novák, Aurél Bernáth, and Emese Benczúr shifted toward loose, gestural depictions of everyday life, seaside beaches, and contemporary pop-cultural topoi.

The Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest is hosting a major retrospective exhibition titled Vasarely 120 to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the birth of Victor Vasarely. Recognized globally as one of the most defining figures of kinetic art and geometric abstraction, the Hungarian-born artist who found fame in Paris is honored with an unprecedentedly comprehensive showcase. The exhibition brings together more than 140 works—including well-known masterpieces as well as rarely seen creations—with the domestic collection enriched by loans from the Fondation Vasarely in Aix-en-Provence.

Curated by art historians Veronika Pócs and Mónika Zombori, the exhibition traces Vasarely’s vast career path. It highlights his early days studying the Bauhaus movement in Budapest, his transition to designing commercial advertising posters in Paris during the 1930s, and his ultimate role in fueling a post-WWII visual revolution. Vasarely’s unique philosophy treated art not as an elite commodity, but as a systematic visual language designed to be accessible to everyone, seamlessly integrating into architecture, public design, and everyday urban environments through shifting grids and optical illusions.

The energy is rising, the “Dale!” shouts are echoing, and the party of the decade is finally coming to the “Pearl of the Danube.” Armando Christian Pérez, better known globally as Pitbull, is bringing his high-octane performance style and a massive catalog of hits to the Hungarian capital. Whether you are a lifelong fan or just looking for the ultimate night out, the Pitbull concert in Budapest promises to be an unforgettable explosion of reggaeton, Latin pop, and dance-floor anthems.

Pitbull Concert in Budapest in 2026

The city is buzzing with excitement as the official date approaches. Pitbull is set to take the stage at the Puskás Aréna on July 21, 2026. This stadium is the largest and most modern multi-functional venue in Central Europe, designed to meet 21st-century demands while hosting some of the world’s biggest musical acts.

Venue Details:

Location: 1146 Budapest, Istvánmezei út 3-5.

Capacity: Roughly 67,000 for concerts, ensuring an electric, massive-scale atmosphere.

How to Get There: The arena is easily accessible via public transport. The most convenient options are Metro Line M2 (Red Line) to the “Puskás Ferenc Stadion” stop, or Tram 1. Several bus and trolleybus lines also serve the area.

If you are looking to secure your spot at this massive event, you can buy Pitbull tickets on Viagogo here.

How Viagogo Operates

Viagogo is one of the world’s largest secondary marketplaces for tickets to live events. It is a particularly useful platform for high-demand shows like Pitbull’s, where official primary tickets often sell out within minutes. On Viagogo, third-party sellers list their tickets, which means you can often find seats even for “sold-out” shows.

It is important to note that because the marketplace is driven by supply and demand, prices on Viagogo might be higher than the original face value. However, it remains a fantastic and reliable option for fans who missed the initial release and want a guaranteed way into the venue. The platform provides a guarantee that you will receive valid tickets in time for the event, offering peace of mind for international travelers and local fans alike.

Global Takeover: Pitbull’s Breakthrough and World Tour

Pitbull’s journey to becoming “Mr. Worldwide” is a classic story of hustle and evolution. He first broke through in the mid-2000s with his debut album M.I.A.M.I., but it was his transition into the “Latin-House” and pop-crossover scene that skyrocketed him to global superstardom. Hits like “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho),” “Give Me Everything,” and “Timber” turned him into a mainstay on the Billboard charts.

Currently, his “I’m Back” 2026 Tour is taking him across major cities in North America and Europe. In addition to Budapest, he is headlining major festivals like BST Hyde Park in London and performing in cities like Stockholm, Dublin, and Cologne. For a comprehensive look at his current travels, you can view the full tour list on the official Pitbull website.

Past Performances in Budapest

Pitbull is no stranger to the Hungarian crowd. His previous visits to the city have been met with rave reviews, with fans often noting that he is one of the few artists who can keep an entire venue standing and dancing from the first beat to the final encore. Reviewers typically highlight the “carnival” atmosphere of his sets, which often feature a full live band and stunning visual displays. Whether it’s a smaller arena show or a massive stadium gig, the feedback is consistent: Pitbull knows how to throw a party.

Beyond the Music: Exploring Budapest

If you are traveling to the city for the concert, why not make a weekend of it? Budapest has become one of Europe’s top-tier destinations for culture, history, and nightlife.

To stay up to date with everything happening in the city during your visit, check out Budapest Guide – What’s Happening. This resource is perfect for finding other exhibitions, festivals, and local events that might coincide with the concert.

Top Attractions to Visit

While you are in town for the show, ensure you visit these essential landmarks:

The Hungarian Parliament Building: An architectural masterpiece on the banks of the Danube.

Buda Castle District: Explore the historic Royal Palace and the Fisherman’s Bastion for the best views of the city.

Széchenyi Thermal Bath: Relax in the city’s most famous medicinal baths located in City Park.

St. Stephen’s Basilica: A stunning sanctuary and the largest church in Budapest.

The Ruin Bars: Head to the Jewish Quarter after the concert to experience the city’s unique nightlife in bars like Szimpla Kert.

Museums and Activities

If you have a bit more time, the Hungarian National Museum and the House of Terror offer deep dives into the country’s complex history. For art lovers, the Museum of Fine Arts at Heroes’ Square is a must-visit.

Whether you are coming for the “Fireball” energy of Pitbull or the historical charm of Hungary, Budapest is ready to welcome you. Make sure to grab your tickets early, plan your itinerary, and get ready to party with Mr. Worldwide!

The F1 Grand Prix in Budapest has been arranged every year since 1986, and every year hotels, apartments, and restaurants are filled up with people coming to Budapest to see and, experience the annual Formula One Grand Prix in town. If you plan to come, make sure to book your hotel room or apartment well in time; if not, it might be too late, or you will have to sleep in some hidden camping somewhere in the forest, as everything else will be full!

For more information on how you can watch this event on the Internet (if you can not be there at Hungaroring), read the following article.

Who will win the Hungarian Grand Prix in 2026?

In 2025, Lando Norris won the Hungarian Grand Prix, narrowly holding off his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri. In 2024, Oscar Piastri took his maiden Formula 1 win at Hungary, after a dramatic intra-team situation where Norris eventually handed the lead via team orders.

Looking ahead to 2026, McLaren seem strong contenders — Norris and Piastri both already have recent wins and solid form. But don’t count out Red Bull, Mercedes or even Ferrari, depending on how they develop their cars. Strategy, tyre wear (Hungaroring is tough), and weather could all be deciding factors.

Where can I buy tickets for the Formula One race at Hungaroring?

There are lots of websites selling tickets for the Formula One race at Hungaroring. A very good website for buying tickets is https://shop.motorsport.tickets/.

If there are no tickets left and you are desperate to buy one or more tickets for the Hungarian Grand Prix, then it is possible to buy tickets from others at Viagogo. But, you should know that the prices are higher than if you buy the tickets directly, and there are always risks when buying tickets online in this way.

Where to stay if you come to Budapest for the Hungarian Grand Prix?

As Hunaroring is a good distance outside Budapest, many people are considering where to live. The area around the Hungaroring is quite desolate and abandoned, so the best thing is to stay in Budapest and only travel to the track on Sunday (and possibly on Saturday if you want to catch the race that day).

Below is a map showing Budapest and various hotels in the city center. It is easy to arrange a taxi via the hotel to transport you to the Hungaroring if desired.

How can I travel to Hungaroring from Budapest?

It is quite complicated to get to Hungaroring. For this reason, many people use taxis to travel to the venue during the competition days. A taxi is quite expensive, so if you want to save money, you could consider the public transportation solution. But, how much does a taxi really cost? It depends, but in 2023, the official taxi partner of the Formula One race was Bolt. If you order a taxi through them to Hungaroring, a normal taxi would cost about 40-50 Euros. Is that too much? Follow the public transportation instructions below.

The public transportation methods change frequently, but in recent years, the best option for traveling to Hungaroring has been the following.

Travel to the end station of the red metro Örz Vezér Tere.

Travel with HEV 8 (green train) from Örz Vezér Tere to Kerepes.

Travel from Kerepes with special Volanbusz to Hungaroring gate 3.

When the race is finished and you want to get back to Budapest, do the following.

Travel with Volanbusz from Hungaroring to Gödöllö.

Travel by train or HEV from Gödöllö to Budapest.

A good thing is that you will not be alone, as thousands of others travel to and from Hungaroring in the same way. In other words, follow the crowd, and ask for help if you are insecure or need help.

When was the first Grand Prix race arranged in Budapest?

The first Formula One Championship was held at Hungaroring in 1986. That was quite revolutionary, as Hungary was still behind the Iron Curtain at that time. Since then the annual race at Hungaroring has become a tradition and a highlight in the calendar of sports fans in Hungary.

The current contract has ensured that Hungary will arrange an annual Formula One race until 2032.

Is there anything else I should pay attention to as I attend the Formula One race at Hungaroring?

The Hungarian Grand Prix is arranged in the middle of the summer. As a result, you should be prepared for extreme heat and strong sun. In other words, bring lots of sun cream along and you should probably add sun lotion to your skin several times while you are at the track. Another important thing is to drink enough water, besides all the alcoholic drinks many people consume while at the track.

If you have sensitive ears or just want to take good care of them, it might be wise to bring some earplugs. If you want to listen to live commentators on the radio, bring a headset that quiets the noise from the surroundings while giving you live reports from the race directly into your ears.

It isn’t a big problem, but wherever there are people, there are thieves. Watch out for your belongings at the track and even more so as you travel to and from the track and stand in line to enter or leave Hungaroring. You should also pay attention so that you don’t leave your backpack or other belongings at the metro, in the taxi, or at the racing track!

Seal is returning to Europe in 2026, and Budapest is one of the stops on his summer tour. If you are planning to attend the concert, it helps to know a little about both the artist and the venue before you arrive. A bit of planning can make the evening much more relaxed, especially if you are visiting Budapest for the first time.

Seal has been one of the most recognizable voices in pop and soul music for more than three decades. His biggest hits include Kiss From a Rose, Crazy, Killer, and Love’s Divine, and his concerts typically combine these classics with newer material. The Budapest performance is part of his wider European tour, which also includes concerts in Germany, Poland, and several other countries. You can see all official tour dates on the Seal official tour page.

Seal Concert in Budapest 2026

Venue: MVM Dome, Budapest
Concert date: July 30, 2026
Concert time: 19:00

How do I get to the MVM Dome?

The easiest way to reach the MVM Dome is by using Budapest’s metro system. Take Metro Line M3 and get off at Népliget station. Once you leave the station, the arena is only a short walk away and is difficult to miss. On concert evenings, hundreds of other visitors will be walking in the same direction.

Using the metro is normally much faster than driving. Traffic around the venue can become very busy before large concerts, and parking spaces close to the arena fill up quickly. If you are staying in central Budapest, the metro is usually the quickest and least stressful option.

What should you expect before entering?

Security checks are standard for concerts at the MVM Dome. Bags may be inspected, and prohibited items will not be allowed inside. Even if your ticket already has an assigned seat, you should plan to arrive at least one hour before the concert starts. Queues at the entrance can become surprisingly long, especially during the last 30 minutes before the show.

Budapest can be very warm in late July, with afternoon temperatures often above 30°C. Wear light clothing for the journey, but remember that the air conditioning inside the arena may feel cool once you have been sitting for a while.

Food, drinks, and facilities

Food and drinks are sold inside the MVM Dome, although prices are considerably higher than in supermarkets or nearby restaurants. If you want a proper meal, it is usually better to eat before arriving.

There are plenty of toilets throughout the arena, but expect waiting times before the concert begins and during any intermission. Mobile phone coverage is generally good, although thousands of people using the network at the same time can occasionally slow down mobile data and electronic payments.

Is the venue accessible?

Yes. The MVM Dome is a modern arena with step-free entrances, elevators, and accessible seating areas. If you require wheelchair access or other assistance, it is worth checking your ticket information before arriving to make sure you enter through the correct entrance.

Overall, getting to the concert is straightforward if you use public transport and arrive early. Taking the metro to Népliget, allowing extra time for security checks, and preparing for summer weather will help you avoid the most common problems and let you focus on enjoying Seal’s performance.

Every year several hundred thousand youths come to Budapest to enjoy the Sziget Festival. The Óbudai Island is filled with famous artists giving their best so that those coming from all around the world can enjoy a great week in Budapest.

In 2008 Iron Maiden was one of the hotshots, and for Sziget Festival in 2009 Fatboy Slim, Placebo, Ska-P, Tankcsapda, The Offspring, and the Prodigy made crowds come to Budapest. In 2010 Iron Maiden returned again, and several other famous bands and accompanied them. What is for sure is that every year Sziget Festival is a highlight of the year and the festival is by many said to be one of the best, if not the best festival in Europe. Do not miss out on it, and here you can find more information about the next upcoming festival.

The festival is getting bigger and bigger every year, and in 2018 and 2019, the number of visitors almost reached 500,000 people. That is crazy for a music festival arranged on a tiny island in Budapest. If you want to know more about it and visit the festival, make sure to purchase your ticket as quickly as possible.

The highlight in 2022 was the Justin Bieber concert, while Imagine Dragons and Billie Eilish were the big highlights in 2023. The biggest names at Sziget in 2024 was Fred Again.., Martin Garrix, Azahriah, Sam Smith, and Stormzy. Who will be the most important bands coming in 2025?

If you need help arranging your airport transfer to the festival, or maybe if you want to enjoy a river cruise while in Budapest or some other program, look around here in our Budapest Guide for more information!

August 20th is the “nicest” of the three holidays in Hungary. People are released from their jobs, and people just relax at home, go on excursions, and have a wonderful time. But, what is happening in the city of Budapest on August 20th?

Budapest on August 20th

There are quite a lot of minor celebrations in town. There are special celebrations in front of the castle, by the former market (down by the Danube). On this day, people taste the Hungarian bread, they taste the cake of the year in Hungary, and sometimes, there are special performances and flight races in town.

The most important part of the August 20th celebration is the fireworks which last from 21.00 until 21.30. Normally, more than 1 million people enter the streets of Budapest to watch the event (along the Danube), and this is the most unifying celebration in Hungary every year.

What to do in Budapest on August 20th?

As a tourist, you will notice that stores are closed. But, most museums are open, the Szechenyi thermal bath is open, and so are most of the restaurants around town. If you want to enjoy a river cruise, there will be some differences in the timetables due to the fireworks starting at 21.00, but besides that, there isn’t much to think about.

Budapest is a beautiful city, but it becomes even more beautiful when it is dark outside and the lights are turned on! Wouldn’t it be nice to see the city with your own eyes in the darkness while running a distance of 5, 10, or 21 kilometers? That is possible if you come to Budapest and participate in the Budapest Night Run, also referred to as Generali Night Run.

It started as a simple run, but it has become one of the most popular sports events in Budapest. The atmosphere is fantastic and due to the fact that it is in the evening, you avoid the extreme heat, and you get to see the beautiful city of Budapest at night. All distances start by the Castle Garden (Várkert). This is located on the Buda side, just below the castle (next to the Danube). From there you will run along the Danube towards Margaret Island. This makes you able to see the most famous Parliament building in the world with its beautiful illumination while running. You will later run in the castle district, through the tunnel, and in the area near the Chain Bridge. All in all, a fantastic experience. Throughout the race there are so-called pacers helping you keep your pace. In other words, if you plan on running at a pace of 5 minutes per kilometer, follow the person running with a sign telling you that they are keeping that pace.

The earlier you register, the cheaper it gets. If you are very late, you can register on the spot before the race, but then you should arrive early to make sure everything gets finished in time before the race.

There are also races for kids, meaning that this is an event for the entire family.

The International Wine Festival of Budapest is the highlight of the year for wine lovers as it is possible to taste about 5000 different kinds of wine at this annual wine festival in Budapest. It is always arranged in September and in the same area as many other popular Budapest festivals; the Buda castle area.

This area is packed with stands during the four days the festival normally lasts, and here you can taste wine from lots of different cellars throughout Hungary in addition, they also have guests of honor presenting the wines from their nation in a given year. We have earlier seen guests from Portugal, Spain, Croatia, Slovenia, and other nations, so this is always an interesting plus to the festival.

During the festival, there are lots of live concerts going on in the area and you can, of course, eat traditional Hungarian food like sausage, goulash soup, meets of all kinds, chimney cakes, and similar delicious stuff during the festival. If you want some more culture during the festival, you should absolutely pay a visit to the National Gallery which is located in the middle of the festival area.

How to get to the wine festival?

Travel with bus 16 from Deák Ter to Disz tér or from Széll Kálmán Tér to Disz Tér with bus 16 or 116. An even more enjoyable way is to walk across the Chain Bridge and then travel with the funicular from there to the festival area.
