Mangalica festival
It’s not a secret to anyone, Budapest’s beauty is not the only reason why people come to visit the city. The city and the country are also well known for its gastronomy, and this year you can once again check out the outstanding Mangalica Festival in Budapest between February 7th and February 9th at the Liberty Square in Budapest.
The Mangalica is one of the most outstanding pig type and a real Hungarian animal. It’s very easy to recognize because, in contrast to the domestic pig, it has curly hair on its whole body. So it’s not only delicious but also beautiful! The Mangalica has lived in Hungary since the Middle Ages, and they are still very popular for the local and neighboring people as well.
Mangalica is an autochthonous porcine and the festival is all about pork. At the festival, visitors can try the best dishes made out of Mangalica and explore the best breed pork products as well. At the Mangalica Festival alongside all the best quality pork meat and the various Mangalica dishes, the event provides a little market where you can buy various homemade cheese, honey, marmalade, oil, spices and so on. Apart from these the festival hosts concerts and different shows during the festival. It is a highly recommended event for everyone who loves meat and wants to try the best Hungarian pork dishes. The festival will take place in the heart of Budapest at Szabadsàg tèr and the entrance is free for every visitor.

How to get to the festival area?
Visit the St. Stephen’s Basilica in Budapest and walk towards the Hungarian Parliament. The Liberty Square is just between the two locations. You can also get quite close to it if you travel by tram 2 to the Parliament and walk from there, or if you take the blue metro to Arany Janos utca and walk towards the Danube from there.
