It is February 14th today and that means that it is Valentines Day. This is the day when couples go out together for some romantic activity and to enjoy the love they share for one another. I am going out with my wife as well!
There are not to many special activities available in Budapest on Valentines Day, but most restaurants have special offers and surroundings waiting for their guests on this day. In many cases this means that they have roses on the different tables and they do their uttermost to create a romantic setting for the couples going their way. If you have not made your plans for the evening yet and want to visit a restaurant, you should hurry up, because normally this evening is one of the busiest evenings in the year for restaurants in Budapest and elsewhere in Hungary.
If you’d rather go to cinema you can of course check out Die Hard 5 which has its premiere in Hungary and the rest of the world today. If you want something more romantic you should probably ask your wife/girlfriend and let her decide film instead. For some other advices you can also read our article Budapest in February.
We wish all our readers a happy Valentines Day!
Did you know that Valentines Day got its name from the Christian saint Valentinus? The most popular martyrology associated with Saint Valentine was that he was imprisoned for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry and for ministering to Christians, who were persecuted under the Roman Empire; during his imprisonment, he is said to have healed the daughter of his jailer Asterius. Legend states that before his execution he wrote “from your Valentine” as a farewell to her. (source: Wikipedia)
