Budapest news

Things happen all the time in a big city with 2 million people living there. So instead of writing several different articles today, I decided to write some small news from Budapest in this post.

1) Airport strike is suspended
Two days ago a strike started at Budapest Airport, but today it was suspended. But, it might be that the workers will start striking again in the near future, but as of now it is suspended. The homepage of the airport tells that all traffic still departs from Ferihegy 2, but traffic ment to arrive and depart from Ferihegy 1 will probably return to the planned terminal within shortly.

2) The gas is coming
Yesterday we wrote that Russia opened the taps, and now the first gas has arrived to Hungary. That is great news, and the Hungarians no longer has to listen to the advice of Evgeni Kostitsyn who said: “Eat more beans to produce more gas!” Enough gas is in the nation so there is no need for that extra gas!

3) Congestion charge in Budapest from 2012
From October only newer cars will be allowed to drive within the inner borders of Budapest (between October 20 and March 8) – article can be found here. This is to avoid smog restrictions in the future. In addition the congestion charge will be introduced in Budapest from 2012 and should cost between 400-800 forints. By the time we reach 2012 it will probably be rather 800 forints, but time will show!

That was the Budapest news for today!
