From Cezanne to Malevich (Exhibition)

The most interesting exhibition in Budapest during the autumn and winter of 2020/2021 will be the exhibition titled From Cezanne to Malevich.

Back in 2012/2013, the Museum of Fine Arts hosted an exhibition about Cezanne, which also portrayed works by Michelangelo, Gianlorenzo Bernini, and Nicolas Poussin. The exhibition was a major success, and more than 200,000 visitors came to the museum to see the exhibited items.

In the period from October 2020 until February 2021, a similar, but still very different exhibition will be hosted in the museum. The exhibition will greatly deal with the topic of abstract paintings, and besides more than 50 works created by Cezanne, we can also enjoy works created by Piet Mondrian, Theo van Doesburg, Vilmos Huszúar, Kazimir Malevich, Aleksandr Rodchenko, Nikolaus Pevsner, Mihail Larionov, Paul Klee, Lyonel Feininger, Moholy-Nagy László and Bortnyik Sándor.

In order to make this a great exhibition, the Museum of Fine Arts will cooperate and borrow paintings from institutions such as the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, Musee d’Orsay in Paris, the National Gallery in London, the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid, the Albertina Museum in Vienna, the Metropolitan Museum of Art és Museum in New York, and several other amazing museums.
