Is there a hop on hop off bus in Budapest?

Is there a hop on hop off bus in Budapest ? And if, what route does it go.

First of all, thank you for the question. Of course there are hop on-hop off buses in Budapest, in fact there are several companies arranging such tours. The largest companies are Program Centrum (Hop on – Hop off tours) and City Tour Hop on Hop off Kft (Giraffe Hop on Hop off). The newest on the market in The Big Bus Company with their Big Bus tours.

The companies have somewhat different routes, but the main stops are all the same. This means that they all stop at the Gellért Hill, the Castle Hill (Disz tér), by the Elisabeth square, Parliament, State Opera, Synagogue, Heroes Square, Citypark and so on. You can find more information about the different companies at their respective homepages, but in general all three companies work fine and should be pleasing to most visitors. What makes the difference is sometimes what kind of extra services they include if you buy a ticket for their hop on-hop off service.

Good luck!

A good recommendation

A good restaurant in Budapest with good food
A good restaurant in Budapest with good food
Earlier this week I was out guiding four Norwegian ladies. During the guided tour we spoke about restaurants and they wanted a recommendation for the evening. I ended up suggesting Comme Chez Soi, a small, cosy, intimate restaurant in the centre of Budapest, with amazing service.

The day after the guided tour we met again for an excursion to Szentendre and I was very curious whether they had enjoyed the restaurant the day before, or if they did not like it. After all I recommended it, and it is always nice to recommend good restaurants.

Well, they said – we liked it so much, that we arranged with a new table reservation on another evening. Pleased and happy I therefore understood that they had liked the restaurant, and that is always a nice thing to hear after making a recommendation.

Why not join us on a guided tour yourself, and maybe we have some good recommendations for you as well? Or if you have found a good restaurant, let us arrange with your table reservation (free service).

Guided tour in the heat

It is always fun when days end up in a different way then originally planned. This day was somehow like that! Just checking our email at 8:15 this morning I recognized that someone sent an email at 7:09 telling that they will arrive with train from Vienna at 9:50, and they would like to have a Budapest introduction tour. They didn’t really expect an answer to their email that fast, but hoping for luck they sent their email, and by 8:30 a deal was made and at 9:50 a guide was waiting for them together with a private driver at the Keleti trainstation!

It was extremely hot outside today, and I saw a thermometer showing 41 Celsius in the sun. But, everyone enjoyed the trip and the guests were impressed with the fast answer and service!

Are you coming to Budapest as well? Maybe you are already here? Send us an email, and we will do our best to help you out as soon as possible!

International tourist day February 28

This coming Sunday people in Budapest can enjoy and take part in the International Tourist Day 2010. There will be free guided tours arranged around in the town on foot and using private buses, bicycles and public transportation. Most trips will start from the Heroes Square (every 90th minute – available in English and German in addition to Hungarian as well).

This is a great opportunity to enjoy a free guided tour in Budapest and to get more information about the city, especially for people who have lived in Budapest for a long time, but still haven’t heard to much about the city and its history and its attractions.
