Spring is here, and so is the spring market in Budapest. There are actually two spring markets in Budapest at the moment, one at Vörösmarty Square and one at Városháza Square. We have been to both of them; here you can see some pictures.

We were all looking forward to the spring fair in Budapest in 2020. But, because of the coronavirus, we can now forget all about it, and instead, hope that the virus will stop joking around soon, and thus, we can at least prepare for the Christmas markets which should open in November.
Yes, the spring fair was supposed to open in April 2020 and remain open for three weeks. But, the way things are today, this is not even something to think about. Why not?
Spring Fair in Budapest
The people of Hungary are still allowed to be outdoor and walk the streets of Budapest. But, the fair is even more for tourists. But, considering that tourists are not allowed to enter the country, the main source of visitors and income for the market is not even present, and thus, there is no need to keep the market open. And even more important, such an event will make you meet lots of other people, eat together, and it is a perfect place for the coronavirus to spread. As a result, the latter is most likely the main reason why the spring fair isn’t going to be arranged in 2020.

But, have you ever visited the Easter market, also known as the Spring Market? We have to admit, things are a bit chaotic and there are several markets arranged using similar names. As a result, we will cover several markets in this article.
Maybe you have heard about the amazing Schönbrunn in Vienna was an annual Easter market is arranged? It is quite famous, and lots of people go there every year. But, did you know that the Easter market in Budapest is getting better and better? If you haven’t experienced it yet, now is the time!
Many people enjoy the Christmas markets because of the amazing lights, and the smells that spread so well in the cold air. Well, even though it is warmer and brighter during the annual Easter market (Spring Fair/Spring market), you can still experience awesome food, delightful smells, and lots of handicraft products if you visit the market.

Dates: April 2, 2023 – April 16, 223 Location: Vörösmarty square
Dates:April 20, 2023 – May 2, 2023 Location: Városháza square.
As you can see, there are two different markets. The first market is at Vörösmarty Square, in the center of the city at the traditional location of the Christmas market. This can also be referred to as an Easter market considering that it is open before, during, and after Easter.
The second market is running together with the Spring Festival and is located a few hundred meters from Vörösmarty square.

How to get to the Easter market?
You can easily get to this market using the underground/metro. If you travel to the stop Deak Ferenc square (which is where three of the four metro lines intersect), you will get out of the metro and be at the location of the spring market at once.
If you are looking for a smaller market/fair, you will also find a similar Easter/Spring market next to the Allee Shopping Center on the Buda side, next to the end station of tram number 4. Here you can buy handmade clothes, bags, wallets, Palinka, wine, chimney cakes, and other small stuff.
As mentioned earlier, there is a very famous Spring market in Vienna by Schönbrunn. If you have a car and want to drive a lot, you can start your five-hour drive towards Prague (from Budapest) and experience the delightful Easter markets in Prague as well!

Budapest Spring Fair 2019 dates
In 2019, the Spring Fair will have its grand opening on March 29th, and it will then remain open for one entire month, closing up on April 28th.
The Spring Fair is arranged at Vörösmarty square, the square located in the end of the shopping street Vaci utca, and also the final station on the second oldest metro line in all of Europe, the yellow metro line.

Spring Fair in Budapest
The Spring Fair of 2016 will be arranged between March 25th and April 24th. We visited the Spring Fair a few days ago and to be honest, it is simply brilliant. In a way we liked it even more than the Christmas fair, because there are not that many places to shop, making it easier to walk around, there are more free space, but the things for sale are brilliant and feels more Hungarian than the stuff you buy at the Christmas market. In addition you can buy chimney cakes, langos and lots of other goodies, making sure that you will not leave Budapest hungry!
If you have time, do not miss out out on the Spring Fair at the Vörösmarty Square, available until April 24th in 2016!
The Budapest Spring Festival and Spring Fair or in Hungarian the Budapesti Tavaszi Fesztivál ès Tavaszi Vásár will open its gates again in the capital city of Hungary in Budapest from the middle of April to the end of April in 2015.
The Budapest Spring Festival and Spring Fair is one of the most popular as well as the most awaited programs in the life of the city. Each year the festival offers the best programs for the visitors and this will not be any different in 2015 either. This year in 2015 the Budapest Spring Festival and Spring Fair will host more than 140 programs and various concerts during the festival. The majority of the programs and the concerts will take place at different spots in the city including MÜPA (Place of Arts), the recently reopened Pest Vigadó Concert Hall, Liszt Academy and the BÁLNA Cultural Centre as well and the Spring Fair will be held at Vörösmarty Square in the centre of the city. Lets celebrate spring together in 2015 in Budapest at the Budapest Spring Festival and Spring Fair.
This year the Budapest Spring Festival will be held from 10th April 2015 until 26th April 2015 and the Spring Fair will be from 27th March 2015 to 26th April 2015.7
The Spring Fair is quite similar to the Christmas market, except from the fact that it is not arranged during Christmas time, but in the spring!
