Concerts in Prague, Vienna, Bratislava, Zagreb and more

We already have a page made to inform our visitors about events taking place in cities near Budapest. Now we have updated it, made it easier to use and it has a new design. It even has a search motor so you are able to search for your favorite artist to see if he is performing nearby Budapest while you are in town.Concerts in Vienna

Why have we made this page? Because it is so easy to travel from Budapest to Prague, Bratislava, Vienna, Zagreb, Munich etc… that it is easy to take a day trip even to some of this place (I admit, Munich is quite far away), but except from that all the other cities can quite easily be reached if you want to go to a concert in one of the cities.

For example Prague, the capital of Czech Republic can be reached within six hours. If I would first go there to a concert, I would probably look around as well (considering the fact that the city is beautiful), but it can quite easily be reached using the highways.

Bratislava is the capital of Slovakia and only 2 hours from Budapest. Not so much of a tourist attraction city, but some hours can easily be spent in this, and maybe you could even grab some food in the “UFO” above the bridge?

Vienna is 2 1/2 hour from Budapest, and the capital of Austria. Known for its classical concerts, nice cakes and good coffee this is absolutely a great place for a day trip from Budapest, and a nice concert. This autumn you can for example enjoy both Green Day and Bryan Adams in Vienna (and they are not coming to Budapest).

Zagreb is only 3 1/2 hour away from Budapest, and you have nice highway taking you all the way there. U2 were performing there earlier this summer, and though no hotshots are expected to perform there this autumn, it should still be taken into consideration if you want to go for a day trip away from Budapest.

Depeche Mode is always a hotshot wherever they go, and if you are not planning to go to their Budapest concert, you might concert going to one of their concerts in Prague, Vienna, Munich or Zagreb. Backstreet Boys is also out touring this fall, so check it all out on our list of concerts near Budapest.

More about Diana Krall (source: Wikipedia)
Krall was born into a musical family in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. Her father Jim Krall’s large record collection helped to expose the young Krall to jazz legends. She began learning the piano at the age of four. In high school, she started playing in a small jazz group. When she was 15 she started playing regularly in several Nanaimo restaurants. At age seventeen she won a scholarship from the Vancouver International Jazz Festival to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston. In Nanaimo, her playing attracted the attention of famed bass player Ray Brown and drummer Jeff Hamilton. After hearing her play, Brown and Hamilton persuaded Krall to move to Los Angeles, and study with pianist Jimmy Rowles, with whom she began to sing. This also brought her into contact with influential teachers and producers. In 1990, Krall relocated to New York.

DVSC (Debrecen) in the Champions League

For the first time in more than 10 years a Hungarian team qualified for the Champions League. DVSC (or Debrecen as most people know the team) managed to qualify with a great result in Sofia and some super goals in Budapest last week.

Now they will face more difficult opponents; Lyon, Fiorentina and Liverpool. All three teams will come to Budapest this fall to face Debrecen, and tickets are also available. Visit our Champions League page for more information about the matches, tickets and so on.

Hungarian soccer is on a good wave, and people are also really curious how the national team will do as they face both Sweden and Portugal in Hungary in the next ten days. If they win both matches, or grab at least 3-4 points they might be in danger of qualifying for the World Championship in 2010 (or at least reach the second place in the group and give them the chance to face another second place team in another group where the winner qualifies for the World Championship).

Day excursions from Budapest

We are happy to introduce something brand new on our page; day excursions from Budapest. As many tourists come for 5-7 days they often would like to use some time outside Budapest as well. One of their favorite activities as they travel outside Budapest is wine tasting, and that is why we have created to wine trips; wine trip to Lake Balaton and a wine trip to Tokaj & Eger. We are also proud to say that these trips are escorted by one of Hungary’s best sommeliers, making it something to remember for a long time.

We have also introduced a Danube Bend trip which hopefully will be a popular excursion as well!

Some people have already tried to Lake Balaton wine trip and they liked it a lot, not only the trip, but also the wine (making them buy several bottles with them home).
