More about Diana Krall (source: Wikipedia)
Krall was born into a musical family in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. Her father Jim Krall’s large record collection helped to expose the young Krall to jazz legends. She began learning the piano at the age of four. In high school, she started playing in a small jazz group. When she was 15 she started playing regularly in several Nanaimo restaurants. At age seventeen she won a scholarship from the Vancouver International Jazz Festival to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston. In Nanaimo, her playing attracted the attention of famed bass player Ray Brown and drummer Jeff Hamilton. After hearing her play, Brown and Hamilton persuaded Krall to move to Los Angeles, and study with pianist Jimmy Rowles, with whom she began to sing. This also brought her into contact with influential teachers and producers. In 1990, Krall relocated to New York.

DVSC (Debrecen) in the Champions League

For the first time in more than 10 years a Hungarian team qualified for the Champions League. DVSC (or Debrecen as most people know the team) managed to qualify with a great result in Sofia and some super goals in Budapest last week.

Now they will face more difficult opponents; Lyon, Fiorentina and Liverpool. All three teams will come to Budapest this fall to face Debrecen, and tickets are also available. Visit our Champions League page for more information about the matches, tickets and so on.

Hungarian soccer is on a good wave, and people are also really curious how the national team will do as they face both Sweden and Portugal in Hungary in the next ten days. If they win both matches, or grab at least 3-4 points they might be in danger of qualifying for the World Championship in 2010 (or at least reach the second place in the group and give them the chance to face another second place team in another group where the winner qualifies for the World Championship).

Budapest Dance Attraction (video)

Last Thursday Hungary celebrated the Saint Stephens day, and the city was packed with people. As always the city was full of tourists, and they probably all enjoyed the different attractions located around in the town. Though, I myself discovered a “new attraction” which gave me a much bigger laugh than the best theaters and cinemas around in town; it did not cost any money, and it was located in the Vaci Utca. It was not breakdances, neither “statue-men”… but it was the new Budapest Dance Attration (though I am not sure if he will perforum again).

It would not be fair not to share the experience with you all, so enjoy the video of this great dancer recoreded August 20, in Budapest.

About Demis Roussos (source: Wikipedia)
Artemios (Demis) Ventouris Roussos (born June 15, 1946) is a Greek singer. He was born in Egypt to ethnic Greek parents George and Olga (Engineer Yorgos Roussos), and raised in Alexandria. His parents lost everything and moved to Greece after the Suez Crisis..

After settling in Greece, Demis participated in a series of musical groups beginning with The Idols when he was 17. After this he joined We Five (not the San Francisco, California folk-rock group), another covers band which had limited success in Greece.

He came to a wider audience in 1968 when he joined progressive rock band Aphrodite’s Child, initially as singer but later also playing bass guitar. His distinctive operatic vocal style helped propel the band to international success, notably on their final album 666, which became something of a cult classic.

About Anastacia (source: Wikipedia)
Anastacia (born Anastacia Lyn Newkirk on September 17, 1968) is an American singer-songwriter. Anastacia has been highly successful in Europe, Asia, Oceania, South Africa and South America but has not had as much success in her native United States. In 2005 she was recognized for worldwide sales of over 20 million albums. Anastacia is world renowned for her edgy, soulful voice and is famous for her ability to hit powerful notes (C3 – C6/D6) in a full voice range well into soprano tessituras. Her small stature (160 cm or 5’3″) has also led to her being nicknamed “The Little Lady with The Big Voice”. She was also known for her trademark glasses (often darkly tinted), but she had surgery to correct her vision permanently in August 2005.

She made headlines when diagnosed in 2003 with breast cancer. On April 21, 2007 she married her bodyguard of three years, Wayne Newton, in Mexico.
