Parliament finally finished

I didnt even realize that the work with the Hungarian Parliament had lasted for so long, but last week I read that the last 20 years there has been continous work on the Hungarian Parliament, or the side of the Parliament looking towards the Danube. So, I guess we all got used to the workers and the fact that we never could see the Parliament at its best… But, now it is done (the side looking towards the Danube), and hopefully it will stay nice and clean for many, many years.

To see it the best way you should go to the Batthyány Square or you can go up to the Fishermens Bastion (though the view is nicer from Batthyány Square)!

Our blog with new design

We have not really got a new design, but in the background some changes has taken place. We have left Blogger and welcomed WordPress to run our new blog, and though the differences are not so big, we are just trying it out to check out if it works better for us. I guess the future will show!

The pity is that we do not really have much time to work with this, as it has been a whole lot of guided tours in September. But that is just good, I guess 🙂

News about the Madonna concert in Budapest

The date is not yet published, but I read today in the Hirsarok (Newscorner) that the dato for the Madonna concert in Budapest will be published Thursday (February 12) this week. The tickets will be available for sale from Friday (February 13), so it is just to pay attention and come back to visit our pages, because we will report on updates and news. Our original article on the case about the Madonna concert in Budapest can be found here.

We wil update that page with the correct dates as we get the punctual date for the Budapest concert as well (some people commented that the dates were wrong).

More information about concerts in Budapest.

The concert will be held on the 22 August. Madonna Budapest!

No news from Budapest

I am not sure, but I feel like as if few things are happening in Budapest these days. As I keep checking out the different feeds I subscribe to, nothing seems to happen, and the number of updates are few. In my own search for news I do not find to much either. Of course, it is always possible to write about politics, something is always happening there. You can always hear about the ideas of Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány and his ideas for helping out on the nation, and then the comments from the opposition (Fidesz) that the idea is a terrible one, and that he and his coworkers should all resign from their positions. This repeats itself every day of the year, so it is not to interesting anymore.

The weak forint is another subject that people speak about, and that the newspapers write about. So did we yesterday, so no need to write about it again. But, I read today that the weak forint is good for Hungarian peasants, as the shops find it to expensive to import from abroad, so now they rather buy Hungarian products and Hungarian meat.

If some interesting news come, we will for sure write, but as of now… things are quiet in Budapest!

Budapest news

Things happen all the time in a big city with 2 million people living there. So instead of writing several different articles today, I decided to write some small news from Budapest in this post.

1) Airport strike is suspended
Two days ago a strike started at Budapest Airport, but today it was suspended. But, it might be that the workers will start striking again in the near future, but as of now it is suspended. The homepage of the airport tells that all traffic still departs from Ferihegy 2, but traffic ment to arrive and depart from Ferihegy 1 will probably return to the planned terminal within shortly.

2) The gas is coming
Yesterday we wrote that Russia opened the taps, and now the first gas has arrived to Hungary. That is great news, and the Hungarians no longer has to listen to the advice of Evgeni Kostitsyn who said: “Eat more beans to produce more gas!” Enough gas is in the nation so there is no need for that extra gas!

3) Congestion charge in Budapest from 2012
From October only newer cars will be allowed to drive within the inner borders of Budapest (between October 20 and March 8) – article can be found here. This is to avoid smog restrictions in the future. In addition the congestion charge will be introduced in Budapest from 2012 and should cost between 400-800 forints. By the time we reach 2012 it will probably be rather 800 forints, but time will show!

That was the Budapest news for today!

Some interesting articles

Budapest newsThere are several good pages, blogs and so concerning Budapest, and instead of copying their material we can just as well post a link. In the last weeks there has been some good and interesting articles and one of them was about the fact that the World’s largest subterranean thermal lake has been found in Budapest.. You can read that article at BudapestAgent, but not only that. You can also read about the Balaton Ring, the new MotoGP track to be built in Hungary.

For those who like exclusive shopping the Andrassy Ut has improved. Gucci opened not so long ago, and this week Cavalli also arrived (read the article at Caboodle) to Budapest.

In our oppinion we have written some good articles as well… not so much hot news like articles, but our article about Two Museums in one day and the Locspocs article can still be interesting.

Have a good weekend and enjoy the bad weather!
