Inception in Budapest cinemas

Last Thursday was the premiere day for Christopher Nolans new film Inception in Budapest cinemas. In the main roles you find Leonardo DiCaprio, Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Tom Berenger and Michael Caine.

I must admit that this was a film I did not really want to see, as the trailer did not really interest me. But, yesterday I went with my family to Palace Cinemas with my family to see Inception anyway. How come? As I checked out the information about the film at Internet Movie Database i noticed that it had a rating of 9,2/10 which is extremely high compared to most other films I’ve seen in cinema this year so far. And, normally IMDB does not lie!

Inception is a quite long film, lasting almost 2 1/2 hours… but I enjoyed the 2 1/2 hour I spent in the cinema very much. Inception will not be my new favorite film, but it is full of action, cool scenes, intelligence (which means that you need to use your brain and pay attention) and a tensity that makes the viewer curious about what will happen next throughout the entire film.

If you want to check it out you’d better reserve tickets beforehand, because Inception is filling the seats of almost every Budapest cinema in these days!

Hungary – Netherlenads… what a match! Netherlands is probably the hardest opponent Hungary will face in the qualification for the European Championship in Ukraine and Poland in 2012. If they would like to be there, they better win this match, or at least get one point. Last time the two teams met Hungary lost 6-1, so they have something to revenge in this match. Buy your tickets today using the link below! This will be a great match!

Hungary’s first match in the qualification for the European Championship in 2012 is against Moldova. This should be a three-pointer, at least if they want to fight for qualification, but who knows? The match against Moldova will be played at Puskas Ferenc Stadium September 7th, and it will start at 20.00.

Where to watch World Cup 2010 in Budapest?

World Cup 2010 Budapest
World Cup 2010 Budapest
I have lately been speaking with quite a lot of people in the tourist business, and they all say that during big sport events the amount of tourists decrease. I do not really understand why, because as an international you have a lot of bonuses coming to Hungary during the World Cup 2010. Here you can enjoy good Hungarian food at a restaurant, drink cheap stuff while watching your favorite team at big LCD screens and televisions around in the city. Couldn’t be easier!

Some people coming to Budapest in these days might ask the question: Where should I watch the World Cup 2010 in Budapest (since we went to Budapest instead of South Africa)? Below you will find a list presenting some different options and opportunities.

Matthias church updates and pictures

Matthias Church in 2003
Matthias Church in 2003

I remember making a photo of the Matthias Church in 2003, and I liked it quite a lot. I did of course not imagine, that just some months later the church would be wrapped with scaffold for the upcoming years, making it impossible to take a good picture of the church. The good news is now that they have removed the last scaffolds from the main entrance of the church, and it is finally possible to make good pictures again. Now the backside of the church, facing the Danube is under construction, but hopefully they will be finished with the entire church within shortly.

During the work they have in the last days found some caves beneath the church, just one meter away from the main entrance. These caves (two in total) needs to be strengthened, if not they are afraid that the church will sink down into the ground. It is not possible to visit these rooms, so if you want to go “underground”, you better visit the Labyrinth, or join us on a winetasting and guided tour underground in the castle area!

Tasting beer in Budapest

Hungary is known for Tokaj wine and quite some tasty red wines, but not especially for the beer produced in the nation. Beerlovers rather travel to Prague instead, normally! Unfortunately most breweries in Budapest are closed to tourists, and if they arrange guided tours it is so seldom, it is almost impossible to fit this into the schedule and timing of a tourist.

But, we have now composed a new “guided tour“, or a so called Breweri Tour. We must admit that it is not a big breweri, it is not an amazing, but it is a place where you can see beer production take place, taste special unfiltered 100% beer, and later taste three beers produced at the place, while eating some small stuff served next to the beer.

So, if you are interested in beer, like drinking it, and would like to see how it is made, then this trip is made for you! More information at our Breweri Tour page.
