Christmas Market Vienna pictures

We are arranging trips to Vienna regularly and below you can see some pictures from the traditional Christmas Market at the Town Hall square in Vienna (Rathausplatz). It is very special to walk around in the streets of Vienna before Christmas, as the streets are packed with tourists, and a high percentage comes from Hungary. Anyway, enjoy the pictures, and for more information about the Christmas Market in Vienna take a look at our former articles and pictures below.

Christmas Market pictures

The Christmas Market in Budapest is a giant success every year, and every day crowds walk around the Vörösmarty Square in Budapest to drink hot wine from Budapest mugs and to enjoy the nice christmas shows, music and shopping opportunities. The Christmas Market this year lasts until December 29, so if you have not seen it yet, you still have the chance. If you want to join us on a day trip to the Christmas Market in Vienna, you can read more about that on our Day trip to Vienna-page.

Budapest by night pictures

There has been some days without updates now lately as I have been out travelling enjoying some good days in the Hungarian countryside. But just to tell all our readers that we are alive and well I am publishing some photos from Budapest again. I hope you are not fed up with these kind of photos!

On the pictures you can see the Sandor Palace (next to the Castle), the Chain Bridge, the Four Seasons Hotel, the Circus, the Elisabeth Bridge and some more buildings and bridges here and there!

Elisabeth Bridge pictures and some more

As of now we can all enjoy the illuminated Elisabeth Bridge after the sun has gone down, and I truly enjoy the view. It is nicest as you see it close up, from distance it is not that nice. The system was designed by Ishii Motoko (from Japan) and in all it costed around 250 million Forint. Below you can see some pictures of the bridge, but I must admit that they are not at all good. They were made in a hurry during a guided tour which indeed can be reflected in the quality of the pictures.

Christmas Market Vienna: pictures and inforation

The Christmas Market in Vienna has already opened and we were there this weekend. It was packed with people and everyone enjoyed the glühwein and all the small shops located outside the “Rathaus” in Vienna. I am said to say so, but the Christmas Market in Vienna looks quite a lot better than the one in Budapest, but that probably has to do with the fact that the square in front of the Rathaus (City Hall) is better for such a market than Vörösmarty Square in Budapest. Some more markets will open in Vienna by Schönbrunn and Belvedere in a couple of days.

If you come to Budapest, you should for sure consider a day trip to the Christmas Market in Vienna.

A brutal H1N1 picture

The media is full with information about the H1N1 virus and it must be said that Hungary is well prepared compared to many other nations. For most people the vaccine is available, and it seems as if more and more people get the injection. Anyway, my wife received an email a while ago with a brutal H1N1 picture and I thought I would just post it to my blog (hopefully there will be no problems doing so). So take a look, and do not forget that the H1N1 is by many known as the Swine Flu.

Allee: New center opened in Budapest, with pictures

Today at 11:11, November 11 in the 11th district was the official opening of the new shopping center in Budapest, Allee! Many people had met up to join in and rush to Electro World which had many great offer to their visitors today. I arrived to Allee around 16.00, walked around the entire mall, made some pictures and had a good time. There were some techinal problems as many shops were working in the dark (some electrical problem occured probably), but except from that everything seemed in order. The cinema will only open tomorrow!

I liked the look of Allee myself. It reminds me much of Arena Plaza in style, only that Allee feels much smaller.

I made quite some pictures, so enjoy them, and if you have visited Allee, please share your comments as well!

Marcipan Museum in Budapest

During a guided tour last week we decided to drop by the Marcipan Museum located in the Hilton Hotel in the castle area of Budapest. During our short stay inside the museum I made some pictures, so take a look below for a little feeling of what you can see inside the Marcipan Museum. More information about the museum at the Marcipan Museum page.

Saint Stephens Basilica pictures

Below you can just see some pictures from the Saint Stephens Basilica. You can read more about the church if you press the link, and you can click the pictures for bigger versions of them. More information about attractions in Budapest.

It is quite interesting that I have always thought that the church bell in the Saint Stephens Basilica with the weigth of 9 tonn is extremely big. Only until I recently realized that the church bell in the Stephansdom in Vienna has a total weigth of more than 20 tonn 🙂

Cloudy October 23 & Cloudy guided tour & pictures

Jobbik demonstration
Jobbik demonstration

October 23 turned into a quite nice day, and most important, a quite peaceful day in Budapest. The only think was that in the morning it was extremely
foggy, so I have never enjoyed such foggy weather in Budapest before, at least not during a guided tour. Below you can see some pictures taken from the Gellert Hill, and just some other pictures made during the guided tour.

The big political parties escaped the inner city and har their meetings somewhere else, while the radical party Jobbik had their demonstration at the Deak Square, in the middle of the center. Police were around to make sure everything went okay, and it did! Pictured on the right you can see some people marching towards the Deak Square for the Jobbik demonstration (picture taken from the bus during the guided tour)!
