Tom Jones is coming to Budapest in November 2009. He will perform in Papp Laszlo Budapest Sportarena November 11, concert starting at 20:00. The Welsh singer, whose full name is Sir Thomas Jones Woodward, has sold more than 100,000,000 records, and now it is time to see him live in Budapest.

Ben Hur is known from cinemas, but now it will soon be known from theatres and big stadiums as well. February 27 and 28 you can see the crazy horseracing and Ben Hur in Budapest Sportarena. I guess we are all curious what it will look like live, but to find out you got to be there.

May is over and yet another time we can present the list of the most popular restaurants in Budapest in May. As we always say this is only based on the amount of table reservations we do, so it is not giving a complete list concerning what restaurants are most popular in town, but it will give you a feeling at least, concerning what restaurants are most popular among our readers.

It became a draw at the second place this month, while Sir Lancelot still continues its winning row. New on the list is Pesti Lámpás which managed to get a third place in competition with Belcanto, Donatellas Kitchen, Gundel, Pampas Steakhouse and some others.
This weekend we visited Donatellas Kitchen in Budapest, located in Király Utca. The street in itself has become a great place full of nice hotels and quite some restaurants, and Saturday it was time to check out this new italian restaurant which we have heard so much nice about.
First we were afraid that we would not get a table as it was almost full, but we managed to get hold of a table in a no-smoking area! The four of us eating decided to eat a one metre pizza, made up of three different selected pizza from the menu (which we could decide ourselves). From the time we ordered we received the pizza within shortly, and it was delicious, just as the italians prepare it. And it was a lot, so the four of us did not manage to eat it (the rest was brought home in a doggie bag).
For dessert we ate another pizza with fruits on and a Italian trio… absolutely delicious! We went away very full and happy; we found our new favorite italian restaurant in town, though quite expensive if you decide to eat something else than pizza, at least compared to for example Il Patio.
We are not professional moviemakers, but last week we made some clips as we went on a boat trip on the Danube in the evening. Now we made a short film built on these clips (1:37 minutes), so if you want to see Budapest by night, recorded from a boat at the Danube, you better go to our Budapest by night video.
What can be said for sure is that we recommend everyone coming to Budapest to enjoy such a trip, especially magical is the 22:00 boat trip on the Danube with a romantic candlelight dinner. If you are interested or have questions concerning that, just contact us and we are ready to help!

Szentendre is a fascinating little town north of Budapest. It has a very different atmosphere than the capital, and it draws lots of tourists every year. In itself Szentendre is not big, but it still has loads of galleries, museums and churches. Below you can see some pictures from Szentendre, and maybe you find out that you want to go there yourself?
Many tourists ask us concerning boattrips on the Danube and Folklore shows, and now we are able to give more help than earlier. The National Gallop 2009 will be this weekend in Budapest at the Heroes Square, so if you likes horses, gallops and fun, that is the place to be. There will be several other programs as well in addition to the gallop and lots of Hungarian celebritites will participate in the different events.

It is possible to go there without tickets, but for the best places you can go to Eventim for tickets.
It can be seen and felt that Budapest is on the move in the coffee market. There are more and more cafes opening, but at the same time some of them close down as well. Gloria Jeans had three coffee shops around in Budapest and lots of people enjoyed their coffee, but in March they were all closed down.
Costa Coffee opened a cafe in Nador Utca, but that was closed down as well. Now they have opened one in the start of Andrassy Avenue, a far better location, and for their sake it will hopefully bring far more customers.
Coffee Heaven is also on the move and not long ago they opened their 80th cafe around the world in Budapest. It is in the start of the Fashion Street, just by the Deák Square. They have my favorite triple chocolate muffin there and a very nice outdoor area where you can sit and enjoy your coffee.
Starbucks is not on the move, and some americans told me last week during a guided tour that some areas in America they rather close down some shops due to the financial crisis. I guess that means their entrance into the Hungary will be delayed as well!
What can be said for sure is that it is coffee time and there are plenty of places to choose between in Budapest currently!
