Anastacia Budapest 2009

September 6 Anastacia will visit Budapest, not because she wants to see the Castle (though she might want to) – but because she wants to have a concert showing her talent to all her Hungarian and international fans. The concert starts at 20.00 and will be held in the SYMA Hall, close to the Puskas Ferenc Stadium and the Budapest Sportarena.

About Anastacia (source: Wikipedia)
Anastacia (born Anastacia Lyn Newkirk on September 17, 1968) is an American singer-songwriter. Anastacia has been highly successful in Europe, Asia, Oceania, South Africa and South America but has not had as much success in her native United States. In 2005 she was recognized for worldwide sales of over 20 million albums. Anastacia is world renowned for her edgy, soulful voice and is famous for her ability to hit powerful notes (C3 – C6/D6) in a full voice range well into soprano tessituras. Her small stature (160 cm or 5’3″) has also led to her being nicknamed “The Little Lady with The Big Voice”. She was also known for her trademark glasses (often darkly tinted), but she had surgery to correct her vision permanently in August 2005.

She made headlines when diagnosed in 2003 with breast cancer. On April 21, 2007 she married her bodyguard of three years, Wayne Newton, in Mexico.

Hungary – Sweden, Hungary – Portugal: World Cup 2010 Qualification

The qualification for the soccer World Championship is soon finished, and Hungary is doing great. Currently they are located at the second place, and might end up in the World Championship if they continue the same way. But, first they will have to face some big opponents; Sweden on September 5 and Portugal on September 9.

Both matches will be played at Puskas Ferenc Stadium and I guess it will be extremely exciting matches – as Hungary has not been as close as this in a long time.

VIP-cinema in Budapest

Yesterday I visited a VIP-cinema in Budapest for the first time in my life. I got to see Ice Age in 3D while sitting in a very comfortable chair. But before I entered into the room to see the film I could enjoy some other advantages of my VIP ticket as well.

A small buffee could be found in the vip-area where you can grab some slices of bread, salami, ham and vegetables; some cakes, biscuits and chips at another place; and in the bar I could drink whatever and I could get as much popcorn and nacho chips as I managed to eat and bring with me into the cinema room.

The ticket price yesterday was 3400 Forint, which is not to bad… and I enjoyed it a lot. The electronic chairs also had a small table where I could place my drink and my nachos which gave extra comfort.

If you want to try it as well, check out Cinema City at Arena Plaza. For groups, read more about group offers and help we can give at group travel.

Opera in Belcanto

Belcanto is one of those restaurant many people decide to visit as they come to Budapest; not because of their magnificent food (in my opinion the food is quite bad), but because they let you hear live opera singing every evening. Their prices are high, you might even call the restaurant overpriced, but they give you something to remember as you leave. Below you can see a little film we made during our stay at Belcanto.

Summer in Budapest

budapestSummer is finally here and the sun is shining all day. The temperatures are nice and sun cream should be used. We are also experiencing quite busy days and many people ask for help with apartments, guided tours, airport transfers and other activities; and due to this we do not have so much time to update our Budapest guide with new information and hot news.

Among the small news is that the new 200 Forint coin is in use quite some weeks, and it is becoming more and more normal to see it and get it back in shops and restaurants.

We wish everyone a happy summer, and hopefully we will be able to update our blog more frequently in the coming days and weeks!

Group program in Budapest

Lots of groups come to Budapest every day, some of them are big and some of them are small. They often come for some days, but very seldom for only one. But, this weekend we got to arrange the program for 60 persons from Denmark. Norwegian arranged a competition where one person could bring 40 friends to whatever city on their routes from Copenhagen. The winners decided to visit Budapest, and we were hosting the group from 09.00 in the morning until 20.00 in the evening (from arrival to departure).

Our danish friends of course had a danish guide showing them the city, but in addition they visited the Royal Spa (in Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal) which they had for themselves, they had their own boat on the Danube where lunch was served and then they enjoyed a meal in a Hungarian restaurant with gipsy music. A great day; rich in content and experiences!

Due to changes in the program we were only contacted concerning this four days before the group arrived. But it still became a day to remember! If you want us to help you and your group with similar programs, just contact us.

Depeche Mode in Budapest tonight

Tonight the Puskas Ferenc Stadium will be filled with people who like Depeche Mode. Unfortunately the weather is terrible in Budapest in these days, and it has been raining without stop since Saturday, but hopefully that will not hinder a great concert tonight.

No more tickets are available for this concert, but for those who would like to hear and see Depeche Mode in Budapest you have a new chance January 11, 2010. More information about that concert can be found here.
