This is the event many have been waiting for since the news was released late 2009. Rod Stewart will perform in Budapest June 26, and the concert is a free event. Thousands of tourists come to Budapest because of this, and several hundred thousand people often visit the parking lot next to the Heroes Square during these annual free concerts. So, this Saturday is the event day, and it should start at 19.00. If you are coming to Budapest for this event, why not book a cheap airport transfer with high quality from us?
Standing in line in front of Starbucks in BudapestStarbucks is finally here! Yesterday Hungary’s first Starbucks opened, in Budapest, in WestEnd Citycenter. That means that we do not have to wait any longer, but we can finally get the coffee from Starbucks in Hungary as well. If you go to WestEnd today, you might have to wait some still, because there are quite long lines in front of Starbucks. Now what we reported on May 6th that Starbucks would come to Budapest has come to pass, so why not go grab a coffee and a cake in Budapest newest coffee shop?
World Cup 2010 BudapestI have lately been speaking with quite a lot of people in the tourist business, and they all say that during big sport events the amount of tourists decrease. I do not really understand why, because as an international you have a lot of bonuses coming to Hungary during the World Cup 2010. Here you can enjoy good Hungarian food at a restaurant, drink cheap stuff while watching your favorite team at big LCD screens and televisions around in the city. Couldn’t be easier!
Some people coming to Budapest in these days might ask the question: Where should I watch the World Cup 2010 in Budapest (since we went to Budapest instead of South Africa)? Below you will find a list presenting some different options and opportunities.
Some places with big outdoor screens: Holdudvar (Margaret Island) Corvintető (Corvin Áruház, 4. emelet, VIII. Blaha Lujza tér 1-2) Liberty Square (big outdoor screen)
Night of Museums is an annual event in Hungary (though it was arranged twice last year – and it seems like it will be this year as well), and it is a very popular event. In the film “Night at the Museum”, featuring Ben Stiller, the museum turns alive after the sunset. That is what will happen in museums all around Hungary this upcoming Saturday as well. There will be special programs in all museums around in the city. You buy one ticket for the entire program, and with this you can enter into all the different museums in the city, and use the public transportation buses travelling between the different locations.
The adult ticket costs 1300 Forint, the ticket for children is 600 Forint.
The event starts at 18.00 and lasts until around 2:30 in the night.

Event press release: The eighth Night of Museums, held nation-wide on 19 June, will offer hundreds of programmes and exhibitions to the public.
In keeping with the traditions of major European capitals, Hungary has, since 2003, hosted the Night of Museums on the Saturday closest to Midsummer’s Eve, the longest day of the year. On this day, exhibitions are open after-hours until late at night, and in addition to tours, many other active programmes are available from late afternoon until dawn. A mix of fire juggling, presentations, dance and theatre, special performances, musical events and discussions will be offered nationwide on the Night of Museums.
The first Night of Museums in Hungary only attracted a few thousand people, but by last year, their number had grown to over 380,000 nationwide. This is also the outcome of more and more museums participating each year: a new record will be set this year, with 84 locations available in Budapest and 191 in the country.
Last year, a new tradition was established in the form of the Autumn Night of Museums, which was also well-received by visitors. The initiative was spurred by the huge success of the Night of Museums and by surveys which revelaled that there was public demand for more “Night of Museums” type of events.
Ron Kenoly in BudapestThis coming Saturday a great gospel event will be arranged at the Margaret Island, in the Island Athletic Centre. The event starts at 15.30 and it will last until 22:30. Quite some Hungarian artists will perform, and the most famous internetional artists are Ron Kenoly (worship leader) and Planetshakers (an australian worship team).
Tickets can be bought on the spot, so if you would like to be there, just get to the Margeret Island and the Island Athletic Centre, and get hold of your ticket there. The name of the event is “This is the Day” (Ez az a nap)!

This weekend we added some historical articles about Hungary to our “Hungary Guide“. They might not be very interesting for the majority of our visitors, but if you are interested in history, and especially in monasticism and monastic life, then this is for you. The articles we wrote feature information about monasticism in Hungary, and about the most important different monastic orders active in Hungary in the past, and still today.
Last week during a half-day excursion to Szentendre we just made some pictures. They needed to use sandbags to protect the city from the Danube, and though it worked, they still had big trouble with ground water. During the excursion we visited a wine cellar. The water of course didn’t reach the building, but due to much water in the ground, the cellar still was “attacked” by water and work was being done getting the water out as we were there tasting the delicious Hungarian wines! The guests didn’t mind, in fact the truly enjoyed both the wine cellar, the guided tour inside it, and of course the wine!
The topic says it all, but I guess I should write it again. The lower riverside roads are open for traffic again. This did not happen this morning, but they have in fact been open for some days. This means that things are a little bit better again for car owners in Budapest, but to claim that things are good would be a lie (because it has never been so)!
And, right now as this text is written there are clouds on the sky, and it has in fact been raining a little bit. Refreshing after some days with no clouds, and just a lot of sunshine!
Sting is an amazing artist, he has been to Budapest before, and now he is coming back to amaze his fans in Hungary. If you would like to be there, it is worth knowing that the concert will take place in Papp Laszlo Budapest Sportarena, November 6th. The event is supposed to start at 20.00, and tickets can be ordered using the link below.
If you would like to have some fun, maybe do a winetasting while in Budapest, check out our winetasting page!
Do not forget that one day after the Sting concert Lady GaGa comes to Budapest, and one day after Lady GaGa performs, Joe Satriani will have a concert!

From time to time we receive emails from people requesting airport transfers, guided tours, winetasting and similar activities who type in email addresses not working and so on. That is always sad, as we are not able to give the help we would love to give!
A few hours ago we received an email from someone requesting a winetasting outside of Budapest, tomorrow! We would love to help, arrange and make this true, but then we sadly realized that the person did not use a valid email address. So much for the help we wanted to give!
Therefore, when you contact us make sure to give us a working email address, cellphone number – and help is on the way within shortly!
